Wht World's Largest and Tallest Castle of Cards

Many people enjoy to build castles out of cards, but very few trying to take it to the same level as Bryan Berg. According to WikiPedia Berg first broke the world record for the world's tallest house of freestanding playing cards in 1992 at the age of seventeen, with a tower fourteen and a half feet tall. Since then he has made it an habit to break that record, and his most recent record was a 25 foot 9 7/16 inch tall tower built at the African-American Museum at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. Trained as an architect, Bryan Berg is the only known person to make a living building structures with freestanding playing cards. He uses no tape, glue, or tricks, and his method has been tested to support 660 lbs. per square foot. In 2004, Guinness created a record category for the world's largest house of freestanding playing cards to recognize a project Berg built for Walt Disney World, a replica of Cinderella's Castle. In 2010, Berg exceeded his own record by using over 218,000 cards to construct a replica of the Venetian Macao, which took 44 days.

How to Build Card Houses

With the right technique and enough patience, you can build a three, four, or even a five story card houses. Whether it's in the comfort of your own home or an elaborate party trick, it's sure to be impressive with the right technique. According to WikiHow you can accomplish this by using the following guidelines. First make sure you have relatively new deck of cards. Old, flimsy card that are creased and folded will not fare well, but neither will a brand new slippery deck. Start with two cards 2 inches apart and lean them together, and then construct another apex beside the first. Place a card horizontal on the top of the two points, and the coninue creating apexes with horizontal cards. Add some vertical cards leaning to the side of of the apexes to create a straight wall, and so on, etc.
